Nottingham Forest will have to beat several Premier League clubs to the signing of Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara.

After Monaco narrowly missed out on Europa League football last season, the 22-year-old was expected to leave for big money this summer.

Months later, Camara is still featuring for the Ligue 1 club, and unsurprisingly, has taken centre stage in Europe on Thursday, 20 August.

Following Elliot Anderson's departure, the base of Oliver Glasner's is likely to be made up of Ibrahim Sangare and Xaver Schlager, one of the Reds' new arrivals.

Evangelos Marinakis still has a lot of money left to spend, even after the deal for Ousmane Diomande, and Camara could be the perfect signing.

Forest are expected to be very active in the remaining weeks of the window, and that should include making a late move for the 22-year-old.

Lamine Camara could be perfect for Oliver Glasner

Pre-season at the City Ground has been positive under new management, but certainly far from perfect with three defeats on the bounce.

Camara's season has already kicked off, with Monaco facing Gornik Zabrze in the Europa Conference League qualifiers on Thursday, 20 August.

The midfielder scored in a thrilling 3-2 for the French side, firing home from outside the box. But that was just part of his incredibe display.

His creativity was on show, racking up an xA (Expected Assists) of 0.36 with two chances created, 82 touches and five passes into the final third [FotMob].

He made one tackle, four clearances, eight recoveries, and also won 60 per cent of his ground duels and 100 per cent of his aerial duels, all while winning three fouls.

Where else must Nottingham Forest strengthen?

Mick Brown told Football Insider that there is a plan to back Glasner in the remaining weeks of the window, which could mean several deals being done.

Liam Delap is reportedly a target at the City Ground, but with Igor Jesus supported by Chris Wood and Arnaud Kalimuendo, other areas could be strengthened first.

AC Milan's Youssouf Fofana could be signed for £15m, Football Insider understands, and the middle of the park certainly needs addressing.

Anderson has left a huge gap in the squad, and while filling that hole will be close to impossible, Forest can give it a go before the window slams shut.
