Nottingham Forest plan to 'block' Dan Ndoye from leaving

Nottingham Forest are planning to block offers for Dan Ndoye as he remains a big part of Oliver Glasner's plans for the upcoming season.

The 25-year-old endured a frustrating first season at the City Ground after making the £34million move from Bologna as he failed to establish himself in the starting XI.

However, after some impressive performances for Switzerland at the World Cup, Nottingham Forest are prepared to give him another chance to prove himself.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Ndoye is unlikely to leave Nottingham Forest, and Glasner hopes to get the best out of him.

Glasner is known to be a fan of Ndoye, having targetd him during his time at Crystal Palace, and is now prepared to assess the winger's performances in pre-season preparations.

A number of clubs across Europe are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation and are willing to lure him away from the City Ground, but any exit has now been ruled out.

Could Nottingham Forest accept an offer for Dan Ndoye?

Football Insider revealed in May that Nottingham Foresy are ready to consider offers for Ndoye, with "big" offers likely to tempt them into selling this summer.

After parting with £34million to bring him to the club last summer, any offer close to that fee would have been deemed acceptable as they aimed to cut their losses.

However, following the promising signs he showed at the World Cup, Forest are now prepared to hand him another opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League.

"Nottingham Forest had a lot of doubts about whether Ndoye was good enough," Brown told Football Insider.

"It was a really poor season for him last time out, and then you end up with the questions about whether he's good enough to play in the Premier League or not.

"So they had a decision to make, do they want to try to cut their losses and make back some of the money they spend on him, or are they prepared to stick with him?

"They will have been impressed by what they saw from him at the World Cup, and with Oliver Glasner coming in, that might give him the fresh start he needs.

"Glasner will give him the chance to impress in pre-season, and if he can carry on his form from the World Cup, there's no reason Ndoye can't be a part of their squad this season.

"I expect, for now at least, they'll be prepared to block any offers and keep him around because if he's on top form then he can be a real asset.

"I don't doubt there are clubs looking at him, looking to bring him back to Europe after the World Cup, but as far as Forest are concerned I expect he is a part of their plans."

Why have Nottingham Forest made a U-turn over Ndoye?

Despite initially having been open to offers for the winger, Nottingham Forest have made a complete U-turn and are now planning to use him as part of their squad.

Last season, Ndoye scored just two goals in 37 appearances across all competitions, and he managed to match that tally in just six World Cup games for Switzerland.

His displays on the biggest stage have changed his club's stance, as Football Insider reported that Glasner could now look to build his team around the forward.

Glasner will likely be planning big changes to his squad after the Reds finished 16th last term, but Ndoye has emerged as somebody who could play a key role for him.

The winger received high praise for his displays at the World Cup, in particular when facing up against Crystal Palace's Daniel Munoz during the win against Colombia.
