Oliver Glasner should be building his Nottingham Forest team around Dan Ndoye after he proved his quality for Switzerland against Colombia.

The former Crystal Palace boss was named as Forest's new manager on Monday after Vitor Pereira was relieved of his duties last week.

He was widely expected to move to a higher-placed side after leaving Selhurst Park, so Forest fans should be excited about what he is set to bring to the City Ground.

Glasner will likely be planning big changes to his squad after the Reds finished 16th last term, and Ndoye should be someone he places his trust in.

The Switzerland international has continued to prove his quality at the World Cup over the last few weeks, with another strong performance against Colombia on Tuesday.

He will have the chance to shine again when they face Argentina in the quarter-final, with Glasner sure to be watching on and liking what he sees from the 25-year-old.

Dan Ndoye has played himself into Forest contention with Switzerland displays

Ndoye struggled throughout his debut Forest campaign following a £34million move from Bologna last summer.

He was only able to register two goals and one assist in 37 appearances across all competitions, with just 14 starts in the Premier League during a turbulent season.

Glasner's arrival should represent the chance to impress under a more long-term manager, and Ndoye has certainly shown that he can nail down a starting place with the Reds over the last few weeks.

He bagged twice in as many games in two pre-tournament friendlies, then also scored in their round of 32 clash against Algeria last week.

His fourth start of the competition against Colombia was maybe his best all-round performance so far, as he had the most touches in the opposition box (6) of any player throughout 90 minutes on the pitch.

Ndoye was rightly praised by Swiss media after his performance, as he also won eight ground duels and five fouls from the left wing up against Crystal Palace star Daniel Munoz.

Given that Forest lacked attacking quality last season, and he is impressing on the world stage, it seems a complete no-brainer for Glasner to make Ndoye an important part of his team next term.

Which forwards could leave Forest this summer?

Glasner is already putting his own stamp on the Forest squad, with sources telling Football Insider that Jean-Philippe Mateta is set to leave Palace for the City Ground soon.

Ndoye has been linked with a move away since last season ended, but has surely played his way into staying at the club as other forwards are mooted to leave.

Jota Silva spent last season out on loan at Besiktas and soon looks set to complete a permanent move to Olympiacos.

Forest are also believed to be willing to sell Arnaud Kalimuendo, who arrived with Ndoye last summer but failed to impress in his debut campaign.

West Ham are targeting James McAtee after their relegation to the Championship, so he could also depart to free up more space for Ndoye to be a regular starter.
