Nottingham Forest may soon be able to completely forget about the signing of Morato at the City Ground.

The 25-year-old arrived during Nuno Espirito Santo's reign at the club, and his rapid downfall has hardly been a surprise to the fanbase.

Last season, he made just 14 Premier League starts, often being pushed out to a left-back role to make space for Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo.

Even with Oliver Glasner deploying a back-three formation this term, the signing of Ousmane Diomande and Ola Aina position change has deemed him useless.

The Brazilian has been loaned out to West Ham United for the 2026-27 campaign, where he's played an important role in Nuno's plans so far.

He even bagged an assist in the Hammers' 6-0 demolition of Wrexham, while scoring against Fulham as the team exited the Carabao Cup.

Nottingham Forest to move Morato on already

The current situation is made even worse by the fact that Forest splashed £12.6million on his signature, becoming one of their worst signings in recent times.

Morato seems to have found his home at the London Stadium, albeit temporarily, but getting rid of him permanently seemed like a dream.

However, it is believed that West Ham have been impressed by the defender's performances, so much so that they're considering keeping him next summer.

Given how much he cost the Reds, the Premier League club will surely jump at the chance to recoup some of the transfer fee, if not all of it.

It is understood that promotion back to the Premier League will push West Ham to seal a deal, so Forest will be secretly hoping for success at the London Stadium.

What do West Ham fans make of the news?

It would be fair to say that reaction to the news has caused a divide at the London Stadium, with it all depending on where he plays on the pitch.

If Nuno plans on continuing the left-back experiment, he will be eaten alive in the Premier League. At centre-back, he could be a success story for West Ham.
