Nottingham Forest told to 'meet transfer demands' of Oliver Glasner with late-signing spree
Oliver Glasner is already facing frustrations about transfer plans at Nottingham Forest with less than a week until the new season begins.
During his time at Crystal Palace, the 51-year-old frequently insisted that doing business late in the window had led to further issues with results and performances.
So far this summer, Forest have brought in four new players, but the boss has spoken out to warn that his squad will not be in the best condition for at least five or six weeks.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown warned Football Insider that Glasner appears to be having similar frustrations to what led to his exit from Crystal Palace.
Work is ongoing behind the scenes at the City Ground to bolster their squad ahead of the new season, but it is the timing of the work that leads to new concerns.
With players only just returning from the World Cup and new signings still set to arrive, the boss has been clear that he must be given time before they are at their best.
Could Oliver Glasner's Nottingham Forest frustrations grow?
Brown warned Football Insider in July that Glasner's expectations and volatile nature can lead to frustrations, and an exit clause has been included in his Forest contract.
While any suggestions of an early exit will be dismissed, and high hopes are still in place for him to carry out some ambitious plans at Forest, those frustrations are growing.
The manager's words are eerily reminiscent of some frustrations he had voiced at Crystal Palace, and the boss is already aiming to temper expectations.
"I wouldn't be particularly concerned about what Glasner has said," Brown told Football Insider.
"I don't mind a manager being willing to speak out and make it clear that he has higher expectations and wants the club to be more proactive, it's important to challenge people.
"Glasner is obviously a bit frustrated with the way the transfer window has gone, and pretty much every team in the Premier League is struggling with players coming back late.
"It is similar to what he said while he was at Crystal Palace, which is a bit of a concern given his decision to leave them, but he also had a lot of success there.
"He's tempering expectations and explaining his frustrations which I think is fair, I wouldn't be worried, but the club do have to work to meet his demands."
What is next for Nottingham Forest in the transfer window?
Given Glasner's frustrations about the club's transfer activity and what could end up being a slow start to the season, their work to bring in new players may have to accelerate.
Work is ongoing behind the scenes to strengthen his squad in a number of key positions, with the addition of a new central midfielder one of their key targets.
Football Insider revealed on 14 August that Nottingham Forest are ready to challenge Crystal Palace and multiple European rivals in the race to sign Youssouf Fofana.
Elliot Anderson's departure has left Forest scrambling for replacements, and the AC Milan midfielder is believed to be high on their list of targets in his position.
Milan are reportedly ready to let the midfielder move on, placing Forest and their rivals on high alert, and a deal could be done in the coming weeks.
