Oliver Glasner 'thrown under the bus' as Nottingham Forest 'concerns' grow
Nottingham Forest have thrown Oliver Glasner under the bus as he continues to struggle with a lack of attacking threat.
Questions have been asked of the boss' position as Nottingham Forest have picked up just one win from their first seven Premier League games under his leadership.
Despite there being no current plans in place to change their manager, the lack of goals has become a concern, although there is a belief that is not all the manager's fault.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Forest did not adequately back Glasner with the attacking players he needs to succeed at the City Ground.
Liam Delap and Chris Wood have both struggled to find the net so far this season, while Forest's other attacking options have also not chipped in with regular goals.
While this has drawn concerning comparisons to the boss' time at Crystal Palace, this has been labelled a "coincidence", with Forest's recruitment the main issue instead.
Why are Nottingham Forest struggling to score goals?
Brown told Football Insider on 13 October that Nottingham Forest are concerns about their lack of goal threat, and are pointing to Delap's recent form as a concern.
The striker, who joined from Chelsea during the summer for a fee of £50million, has scored just one goal in six league appearances this season and has missed some glaring chances.
He is being pointed to as an example of Forest's recruitment team getting things wrong, with Glasner not to blame for their current issues as he aims to turn around their form.
"It's difficult to point the finger at Oliver Glasner when you look at what the issues are," Brown told Football Insider.
"The big concern there is that they can't score goals, it's now five home games this season without a goal in front of the fans.
"Nottingham Forest are playing well, they're competitive in these games, they're creating chances, but they can't put the ball in the back of the net anywhere near consistently enough.
"I know it's a problem he had at Crystal Palace as well, they created plenty but had issues scoring goals, but I don't think that's anything more than a coincidence.
"Ultimately, it depends on the players and how they're performing, and if they're good enough, so then the fault lies with the recruitment rather than with the manager.
"Spending £50million on somebody like Liam Delap, who isn't going to be a striker you can rely on for goals, just shows where the problems are.
"So Glasner has been thrown under the bus in that respect, because it's now on him to get the best out of these players, and if he can't do that, it will be him who gets the blame."
Could Oliver Glasner be sacked by Nottingham Forest?
Despite blame being pushed towards the recruitment staff rather than the manager, there are growing concerns that Glasner could face backlash for their recent results.
A run of five games without a win or a goal at the City Ground has not gone down well with sections of the fanbse, who have expressed their frustrations towards the boss.
Brown told Football Insider that losing the support of the Nottingham Forest fans would be the "beginning of the end" for Glasner and his time at the City Ground.
While he does retain the backing of the majority of the supporters, more below-par performances and a lack of goals at home is bound to cause frustrations to grow.
Meanwhile, owner Evangelos Marinakis is notoriously trigger-happy, with Forest having been through five managers in the last year, and he is determined to see an upturn in results.
