Nottingham Forest fans are furious after it was revealed that they have agreed a £45million deal to sign Liam Delap this summer.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that the 23-year-old striker is now set for a medical in what is a record deal for the East Midlands club.

Delap has been linked to numerous clubs this summer after a difficult first campaign at the Blues, where he only scored one Premier League goal.

However, not only have Chelsea found a buyer, but they are also set to make a substantial profit on the attacker, who has no doubt been a huge flop at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, Forest fans are appalled at the fee they are paying for Delap, who is now set to become their fifth signing of the summer.

The Tricky Trees have been searching for a new striker all summer, but Delap appears to be an underwhelming potential addition to the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest fans label Liam Delap signing as ‘desperate’

Despite Delap having an excellent season at Ipswich Town in the 2024-25 campaign, where he scored 12 Premier League goals, his stock has fallen massively in recent months.

At Chelsea, he made 28 appearances in the Premier League, including 12 starts, but could only muster one goal.

As a result, his minutes towards the end of the 2025-26 campaign were limited, and it has been feared that his season at Ipswich was purely a one-off.

However, if The Telegraph’s report is true, not only will Chelsea be ridding themselves of this flop, but they will also be netting a £15m profit.

This has disgusted many Forest fans, who have labelled the signing as "desperate".

Talks are advancing for the 20-year-old in what could be a £13.6m deal for the midfielder.

He featured 12 times in the 2025 campaign, and has registered seven goal contributions in 34 appearances so far this season, but is currently sidelined with a thigh injury.

However, it remains to be seen if Forest can complete a deal by the 1 September deadline for transfers edges ever closer, with the East Midlands club still eyeing multiple potential additions.
