Morgan Gibbs-White ‘very anxious’ as Nottingham Forest clause triggered – Insider
Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White is extremely likely to have triggered a bonus clause in his contract due to his latest England call-up.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the attacking midfielder is likely to be about to receive a healthy payment.
This comes amid the news that the 26-year-old has been called up to Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the upcoming Nations League games, after Chelsea’s Cole Palmer pulled out.
Wyness believes that Forest will have included an international cap bonus as part of Gibbs-White’s last extension, as it can help to improve the valuation of a player.
The former Wolves man was a surprise exclusion from the Three Lions’ squad for the World Cup, after a campaign that saw him net 15 goals in the Premier League.
However, he has now got his chance to impress on the international stage once again, and will be keen to prove his worth to Tuchel.

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Gibbs-White has been “very anxious” to make the breakthrough and become an England regular.
The midfielder has made his desire to represent his country on several occasions, and it is arguably the next step for him in terms of progressing his career.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained why Gibbs-White’s latest inclusion is likely to have given him a financial boost.
“When I've negotiated in the past, you'll often put in a cap bonus because it will add to the valuation of the player. So the club will benefit from having a more valuable player if they get called up,” he said.
“There will be some sort of cap bonus. Also, some of the players will actually have bonuses put into their wage levels so that their wage levels will actually increase as well if they're called up because they're of international standing.
“I expect Gibbs-White to have that sort of clause in there. He's been very anxious to make his interest known in the England camp.”
Nottingham Forest could be about to hand Gibbs-White new contract
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Forest will do “everything they can” to keep Gibbs-White, as Tottenham’s interest remains ahead of the January window.
That could even include the prospect of him signing another new contract, despite the fact that he only penned a new three-year deal back in 2025.
However, Forest know that they cannot afford to lose their star midfielder any time soon, as he was by far their best player last season.
Gibbs-White is set to be just as valuable for Oliver Glasner’s side this term, as he is yet to miss a single minute of Premier League action so far.
