Nottingham Forest are making a big mistake by lining up Beto deal
Nottingham Forest have emerged as surprise potential suitors for Everton striker Beto this summer.
The Reds are currently working on deals for the likes of Givairo Read and Lucas Bergvall, and are also considering their options when it comes to their attack.
Veteran frontman Chris Wood is out of contract in June 2027, while Taiwo Awoniyi has struggled with consistency since his arrival in the Premier League.
Igor Jesus managed 16 goals for the East Midlands outfit in all competitions last season, but he needs more support if they are to progress in 2026-27.
Beto managed nine Premier League goals last time out, but the streaky nature of his goalscoring runs has left Everton short of firepower at times.
Sources say the 28-year-old is a target for Forest, who are arguably missing out on something they already have in the building.

Forest's consideration of Beto is made even more surprising given that he is largely similar in profile to both Wood and Awoniyi.
The Reds didn't have enough variety in their frontline last term, and that is surely something that Oliver Glasner will be keen to change moving forward.
A move for Beto in the coming weeks would reinforce the idea that Forest have not got anywhere near enough out of Arnaud Kalimuendo, after bringing him in from Rennes last summer.
The Frenchman spent the second half of last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, and impressed with just six goals from 19 Bundesliga games.
Throw in the fact that he has already scored in the pre-season friendlies against Notts County and Blackburn, and it could certainly be argued that he is deserving of a chance to prove himself.
He has the pace and dynamism that the rest of the frontline is currently lacking, and looks to be in confident form as the start of the season nears.
Forest haven't made the most of their internal talent in Kalimuendo, and if they were to bring another new face in from the outside, then it would surely force him further down the pecking order.
Evangelos Marinakis investing '£20m-a-month'
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider on Saturday that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is "effectively" ploughing "£20million-a-month" into the club at the moment.
The Greek businessman is working hard to help rebuild the squad at the City Ground, after a disappointing campaing last time out.
Borson outlined that the club do not have to worry about UEFA's financial restrictions in 2026-27, and Marinakis is taking full advantage at the moment.
He is keen to see several more signings come in before the start of the season, and is prepared to do everything he can to back Glasner.
