Nottingham Forest backed to complete 'very good' Lucas Bergvall deal

Nottingham Forest are currently well-placed to win the race for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall this summer.

That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Reds will put forward an "interesting" project to the 20-year-old.

Bergvall has recently made it clear that he wants to leave Spurs this summer, and Forest have identified him as a replacement for Elliot Anderson.

Wyness believes that Vitor Pereira and Co. can provide plenty of minutes for the starlet, but acknowledged that the abundance of interest will make life "difficult" for his agent.

Both Aston Villa and Chelsea made enquiries into Bergvall's availability during the January window, and will both reignite their interest this summer.

European interest is also expected to come in for the Sweden international, who is currently away at the World Cup with his country.

Nottingham Forest eye lucrative contract for Lucas Bergvall

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Forest will be capable of putting a lucrative contract together to tempt Bergvall.

The East Midlands outfit are set to net £116million from Anderson's move to Manchester City in the coming days, and will not be short of cash to spend.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness emphasised that a move to the City Ground could be a good fit for Bergvall.

"It's a difficult one to go from Spurs, but then he may be scarred from last season at Spurs and want to get away as quickly as possible," he said.

"Certainly, I think he'll be offered a very good deal at Forest, but also Forest have a very interesting project themselves that they're building there with the money coming in from Anderson.

"Don't discount the attraction of Forest in terms of being a club that achieved just two seasons ago, so Bergvall and his agent have got a difficult decision to make.

"From what I'm reading between the lines, he may be best to go to Forest in terms of getting more minutes and playing better. I think he may be in a crowded Spurs squad now. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Forest actually winning this one."

Tottenham to make 'nice profit' as Lucas Bergvall told 'you have no future in this side'

How much will Tottenham demand for Lucas Bergvall?

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider earlier this week that Tottenham will likely hold out for £40million to sell Bergvall this summer.

The Lilywhites paid just £8.5m to sign him from Djurgarden back in 2024wy, and are now in line to make a "nice profit."

Borson made it clear that Bergvall has already been told that he doesn't figure in De Zerbi's plans, but raised concerns about where his expectations may lie for his next move.

He emphasised that while Bergvall perhaps sees himself moving straight to another top club, he would be better served going somewhere where regular football would be guaranteed.
