Nottingham Forest fans have demanded that the club walks away from any deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s rising star Lucas Bergvall this summer.

This comes after reports that Newcastle United have entered the race for the 20-year-old midfielder and have seen a £46million bid rejected.

After this news, Forest fans fear that the club could be dragged into a bidding war with the Magpies, something that Spurs may be hoping for.

Therefore, many of the City Ground faithful believe that the Tricky Trees should just move on to other targets this summer.

Forest have previously had a £38m offer rejected by Spurs for Bergvall this summer.

Tottenham are happy to let the midfielder go in the transfer window, but only for the right price.

Nottingham Forest fans want club to move on from Lucas Bergvall

Bergvall is no doubt an exceptional upcoming player in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old previously won Tottenham’s Supporters’ Player of the Season, and has an abundance of talent.

However, Forest could end up paying an eyewatering price for Bergvall, especially if Newcastle submit further bids.

Therefore, fans simply do not believe the youngster is worth such a saga, with many taking to X to state that the East Midlands club should simply move on to other targets after The Athletic's report.

Is Bergvall worth the hassle?

The 2025-26 campaign was not a good time for Bergvall.

The midfielder had limited playing time as Tottenham struggled near the relegation zone.

According to Fotmob, his stats were not great in the Premier League across the season.

Overall, he was averaging, 0.09 goals, a 0.13 xG, 0.28 assists, 0.47 chances created, 1.12 shots, 4.57 duels won and 0.19 interceptions.

While he is still 20 years old, and has plenty of time to improve and develop, the Sweden international may not be a luxury that Forest should prioritise.

There are likely many better upcoming stars around the globe that are available for a lower price, and could make a bigger impact on the pitch next season.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen what Forest do in the transfer window over the coming weeks as Oliver Glasner looks to push the club back into the top half of the Premier League once again.
