Now's the time: McLeish tell Ancelotti to unleash King after shattering Everton blow
Alex McLeish has urged Carlo Ancelotti to hand Josh King a chance to “ignite” at Everton in James Rodriguez’s absence.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the January arrivals needed a “sliding doors” moment to prove his worth at Goodison Park.
As quoted by Sky Sports, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed James Rodriguez would be out of action until April with a calf problem.
King is yet to start a game for the Toffees since his move from Bournemouth in January.
He has been utilised primarily as an impact substitute and has played over 30 minutes just once in eight appearances.
The Toffees are in FA Cup action against Manchester City this weekend, but King is cup-tied after featuring for Bournemouth.

However, McLeish has insisted it is about time Ancelotti gives his new recruit a chance to impress, especially with Rodriguez out.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “If there’s problems for Everton and he hasn’t quite got into the rhythm of the Everton way, now’s the time.
“When he signed, I thought he was a good signing. He knows his way around the Premier League, Premier League defences and the opposition boxes.
“This is the time for Josh to make the mark.
“It’s quite simple, there’s no need to elaborate on it. He should be at the peak of his powers now.
“There are sliding doors for people in every walk of life. It could be that he ignites with Everton if he gets this opportunity to be a first-team pick.”
