Nuno tipped to axe 'truly dreadful' Kane in Tottenham 'shock' - pundit
Frank McAvennie claims Nuno Espirito Santo will catch “all kinds of hell” if he drops Harry Kane when Tottenham play Newcastle.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the England captain should lose his place in the side.
Kane, 28, is yet to score in the Premier League this season and was criticised for his performance as England drew with Hungary on Tuesday.
The striker has bagged five goals in the EFL Cup and Europa Conference League, including a hattrick against NS Mura.
McAvennie claims any other player would have been dropped weeks ago and admitted he sympathisers with Nuno’s predicament.
“How can you justify starting him?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I know he’s scored against some absolute nobodies in the fizzy pop Europe Conference, is that what we’re judging him on?
“He was dreadful for England the other night, truly dreadful. He will now go and score at the weekend now I’ve said that.
“Dropping Kane would send a message but I don’t think Tottenham can. Who else will come in?
“Then if you drop Kane and Tottenham lose, Nuno will get all kinds of hell.
“It’s a real catch-22 for him. I think if you are playing badly you need to be dropped.
“Kane has been nothing short of shocking in the league this season.”
Tottenham travel to Newcastle this weekend looking to record back to back wins in the Premier League.
Spurs won their last game against Aston Villa 2-1.
