Odds tumble: Everton installed runaway favourites to sign PL ace after mega offer report
By Harry Sykes
Everton have been installed as runaway favourites to secure the signing of Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
SkyBet placed odds of 4/11 on Saturday afternoon of the Merseyside club prising Pickford from the Stadium of Light in the forthcoming transfer window.
The odds have been cut massively from a fortnight ago, when Everton were named as joint favourites alongside Manchester City with odds of 7/2.
Everton’s Pickford price narrowed last week to 1/2 and the odds have taken another tumble in the last 24 hours after a report that Ronald Koeman’s side are close to signing the 23-year-old for a fee of £18million.
Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed on his personal website that the deal is almost done after Everton made Pickford a massive wages offer that triples his current salary.

In a strong sign that the bookies regard Everton as runaway favourites, the next best-priced club are Man City at a distant 9/1.
Pickford has a contract with the Black Cats keeping him at the Stadium of Light until 2020, although the club’s relegation from the Premier League last weekend make a summer transfer inevitable.
Everton currently have Holland international Maarten Stekelenburg and Spanish goalkeeper Joel Robles as their options between the sticks but neither have consistently impressed this season.
In other Everton transfer news, the club have agreed to sign up a centre-forward who is loved by Ronald Koeman.
