Omar Marmoush: Man City star could force exit amid new concerns

Omar Marmoush’s future at Manchester City is set to come down to his own desire and whether he wishes to force a move away this summer for improved game time elsewhere.

Marmoush’s strike against Brentford over the weekend was just his second Premier League goal of a tough campaign from a personal standpoint.

The Egypt star has been heavily linked away from Man City in the last two transfer windows, with Aston Villa and Tottenham both reportedly interested in his services.

Villa reportedly remain interested ahead of this summer, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Marmoush is in control of his own destiny and a decision to leave the Etihad is likely to rest on his shoulders.

Selling him would surely see Man City’s transfer plans needing to change to accommodate another forward signing as his replacement.

Omar Marmoush could force a move away from Man City

Sources have told Football Insider that City don’t want to sell Marmoush this summer, but he has only started seven league games so far this season.

More minutes will be hard to come by next term, given the competition for places in attack under Guardiola, and the 27-year-old could take matters into his own hands and demand to be sold.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Potentially, a lot will come down to Marmoush’s desire, if he wants to be playing regular first team football, maybe that could force him to seek a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

“He’s struggled for regular minutes in the City team, which isn’t surprising with the amount of options that Pep Guardiola has got available to him. Antoine Semenyo has come in and increased competition for places in the starting eleven, as well.

“(Marmoush) has made just seven starts in the Premier League, so I’m sure that he’d be hoping that he’d be playing more regularly, but he’s not going to get that in his preferred number nine role with Erling Haaland being the undoubted number one choice.”

Tijjani Reijnders nearing Man City exit as Serie A clubs circle

Reijnders is another City star who has struggled for consistent game time this season and could be on his way out in the next summer window.

The Dutch midfielder has made just five league starts since the turn of the year after a strong start to life at the Etihad following a big-money move from AC Milan.

Several top Serie A clubs want to sign Reijnders this summer, as exclusively revealed by Football Insider, with an exit on the cards as a midfield overhaul is planned.

He still has four years left to run on his City contract, so any exit would likely be a loan deal with an option to buy him next summer.
