Darren Bent claims that Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has turned into one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England international and Gunners fan says that the German keeper always impressed him between the sticks but that he has started to step up his game to become a top quality talent.
Leno took over as Arsenal’s first-choice last season after joining the north Londoners from Bayer Leverkusen in the 2018 summer window.
Having kept his place in the starting XI under Unai Emery this season, Bent has revealed he has been seriously impressed with what he has seen from the six-cap German international.
Bent told Football Insider: “I think he’s developing well, I thought he was a good goalkeeper anyway but he’s turned into one of the best in the league at the minute. He’s really consistent.
“He’s good with his feet and is perfect for the way Arsenal want to play. They make me a bit nervous when they try to play out from the back but other than that they’re pretty good.
Leno has featured 40 times for Arsenal since joining the club, conceding a total of 51 goals and keeping just 10 clean sheets.
His only shutout this season came in the season opener against Newcastle United, conceding once against Burnley, twice against Tottenham and three times versus Liverpool.
