'Only got yourself to blame' - Exclusive: Robinson bites back at senior star's Tottenham claim
Paul Robinson says that Christian Eriksen only has himself to blame after voicing his frustration over his treatment at Tottenham.
The former Spurs and England shot-stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the Danish international’s unwillingness to sign a new deal with the Lilywhites resulted in his acrimonious departure.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Eriksen says he was a “black sheep” at Spurs due to his contract situation and that he felt like he was blamed for the club’s form and problems.

However, Robinson says that the Inter Milan new boy has no one but himself to blame for how his time at Tottenham ended.
Responding to Eriksen’s comments, Robinson told Football Insider: “If he felt like that he should have signed a new contract then, shouldn’t he? He put himself in that situation.
“Any player who risks running down your contract into the last three or four months of his contract, I’m afraid you create the situation yourself. I’m sure there were contract talks held, they obviously weren’t met and he’d had his head turned before that.

“He wasn’t the same player this year, nowhere near the player that he has been, and when a player puts himself in that situation you’ve only got yourself to blame unless there is no contract put on the table for you.”
Eriksen played 28 times for Spurs during his final half a season in north London, scoring three times and contributing three assists.
He made a total of 305 appearances for the club, 226 of which came in the Premier League.
