Leeds United have had trouble winning away from home this season but no one expected them to lose to the Myanmar All-Stars.
However, in 33C heat and high humidity, that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday, when they went down 2-1 in the first match of their highly controversial tour.
A goal from Samu Saiz that sandwiched the two goals from the hosts was scant consolation for the Leeds fans watching on the live stream at home, and for the hardy fans who’d made the trip to watch them live.
Jay-Roy Grot was heavily criticised for another lifeless performance up front, but fans were delighted with young striker Ryan Edmondson.
The 16-year-old made his debut for Leeds in the final game of the season against QPR and fans are hoping to see much more of him next season after his performance today.
He looked lively throughout – unlike the other Leeds players – and had the ball in the net only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Here are the best reactions from frustrated Leeds fans to the one ray of hope from a very disappointing game:
Thats end of Grot he was absolutely dire Edmundson did more in 5 minutes Diaz needs to play in a defensive midfield role not bad on the ball not big enough to be a cb rest looked alright #lufc

Not really about the result for #LUFC in Myanmar but people will inevitably focus on that.
Positives though, Edmundson looked really good again. Should probably see more of him next season.

Watching Ryan Edmondson bully defenders nearly twice his age while Ekuban meanders around really does illustrate @LUFC’s problems this season #Myanmar #AYABankTour18 #lufc

Ryan Edmondson is giving Grot a lesson in how to properly utilise physicality as a striker. #lufc
