Oscar Cortes wants to quit Rangers, permanent transfer already pre-agreed
Oscar Cortes is set to leave Rangers permanently this year despite some impressive form out on loan at Huracan and his desire to return to playing in Europe.
Cortes has helped turn Huracan’s form around in the Argentinian top flight after joining on loan from Rangers in January following a tough spell at Sporting Gijon.
The 22-year-old recently admitted in an interview that he intends to keep playing in Europe, but is enjoying his football in Argentina and does not regret the decision to make the move.
He only featured three times for Rangers this season prior to going out on loan, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Danny Rohl has no plans to include him in his squad for next season.
Huracan retain an option to buy him when their season ends, and Cortes will be involved in Rangers’ transfer plans soon as they look to engineer a permanent exit.

VISIT THE RANGERS TRANSFER HUBOscar Cortes has no future at Rangers beyond current loan spell
Cortes has played 21 times for Rangers since joining on loan from Lens in January 2024, with his move to Ibrox made permanent that same summer.
He is yet to feature under Rohl and looks unlikely to force his way into his plans anytime soon as the Gers boss targets numerous attacking additions this summer.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It’s unlikely that he will have a long-term future at Rangers. Rangers have moved on, they’ve brought in wingers since his departure.
“He went to Sporting Gijon in the first half of the season and it didn’t work out, but he has moved to Argentina with Huracan and he’s done quite well out there.
“They do have an option to buy him, and it does seem that Cortes would be interested in that move if it is possible.
“He’s under contract at Ibrox until 2029, but is one of those players that probably doesn’t figure in the long-term plans of Danny Rohl.”
Rangers are braced for widespread Nicolas Raskin interest
Raskin has been hugely influential to Rangers’ improvements under Rohl so far, and will be key to their title charge in the final five games of this season.
The Belgium international fired home his sixth goal of the season at Falkirk last weekend, but his fine performances do come with some drawbacks for the Gers.
Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Rangers will receive approaches for Raskin this summer due to his strong showings.
Leeds and Tottenham have each been linked to his signature in recent months, but Rohl is set to stand firm and tell the Rangers board that they can not sell Raskin ahead of next term.
