Tottenham have agreed the terms of a new contract with Troy Parrott, Football Insider can reveal.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the club have now finalised discussions with Parrott and he is set to sign a long-term deal running until the summer of 2023.

He was once again absent from the matchday squad on Sunday as the north Londoners secured a memorable 2-0 home win against Manchester City.

But manager Jose Mourinho has emphasised to the teenage prodigy he has a big future at the club even though he is "not ready" to play regularly for the first team.

That was a blow to the youngster's suitors, with Football Insider revealing earlier in the week that QPR had registered their interest in him along with London and second-tier rivals Charlton Athletic.

Tottenham did not secure a new centre-forward signing in the recently-closed window but they did land Steven Bergwijn from PSV Eindhoven.

The Holland international winger marked his debut with a brilliantly-taken goal to open the scoring against Man City amid rapturous scenes.

Lucas Moura once again spearheaded the attack in the absence of talisman Harry Kane, who has been ruled out until at least April after undergoing hamstring surgery.

Parrott has made two Spurs appearances and has also already been capped by Republic of Ireland, providing an assist in a 3-1 friendly victory over New Zealand.
