Tottenham are ready to hand Troy Parrott a big pay rise as they look to secure him to a new contract, Football Insider can reveal.
Discussions have started with the newly-capped Republic of Ireland international, 17, over an improved deal to reflect his rapid progress this year.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the club are ready to hand Parrott a major pay hike in a three-year agreement.
The prolific young striker penned his first professional deal at the earliest possible opportunity.
Tottenham’s coaches are in no doubt about the potential and calibre of Parrott, who made his international bow for Ireland in Thursday’s friendly win against New Zealand.
He demonstrated his lack of fear with a robust display against West Ham centre-back Winston Reid, which drew praise from manager Mick McCarthy.
Parrott made the step up to the international game after just one appearance for Tottenham’s senior side.
That came in the club’s humiliating League Cup defeat to Colchester United in September, when Parrott made the starting XI in an inexperienced line-up.
He has not added to his debut appearance for Spurs, but Mauricio Pochettino has spoken warmly of his talent and he trains with the first-team squad after out-growing Under-23s and Under-18s football.
