Paul Ince has predicted that Liverpool will suffer their first Premier League defeat of the season when they travel to Manchester City on Saturday.
The Merseyside club face their league rivals at the Etihad Stadium and will be looking to continue their strong start to the season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have seven points from their opening three matches and dispatched Arsenal 4-0 in their last game.
However, they now face a visit to Man City who are regarded by many as the favourites for the league title this season.
Ex-Liverpool player Ince believes his former side will narrowly lose and has tipped a 3-2 scoreline in favour of Man City.
“What a way to kick off the weekend,” Ince told the Express. “There’s one thing you can be sure of in this game, and that’s goals. I think City, especially at home, will have the ever-so-slight edge over Liverpool though.
“Their defence isn’t 100%, so they’ll definitely concede, but I just reckon they have a little too much.”
Liverpool return after the international break with the daunting test of facing Pep Guardiola’s side, who have also picked up seven points from their opening three league games.
However, the Reds should feel confident after winning four of the previous five league clashes against Man City, with the most recent game ending up as a 1-1 draw in March.
They have certainly had the better of the recent history between the two sides and shown they can get a result at the Etihad.
Liverpool could look to hand deadline day signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain his debut at the weekend, while Philippe Coutinho has returned to training after remaining at Anfield this summer amid strong Barcelona interest.
In other Liverpool news, the club’s supporters were delighted with their defender’s performance on the international stage.
