Paul Merson predicts Tottenham v Millwall, states this player needs to be stopped

Paul Merson has backed Tottenham to beat Millwall 3-1 in their FA Cup quarter-final clash at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

Sky Sports pundit Merson believes the League One outfit need to stop Spurs striker Harry Kane who has been in red hot form in recent weeks.

The England international has scored eight goals in his last four matches, including a hat-trick against Fulham in the previous round.

Furthermore, he netted two more goals at the weekend, including a magnificent long-range effort to help his team see off a tough Everton side in the Premier League on home soil.

Former Arsenal playmaker Merson backed Spurs to reach the semi-finals at Wembley and see of Neil Harris’ men.

“Millwall have been going really well in League One and they have let in just one goal in their last 10 football matches. That’s good going,” Merson told Sky Sports. “They’ll certainly make it hard for Spurs but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been on fire recently, especially at home.

“Millwall have got to find a way to stop Harry Kane, who has scored eight goals in his last four matches. I can’t see it happening though, so I’m going for a 3-1 home win.”

The away team will come into this fixture full of confidence because they have already knocked out two Premier League sides on their way to this stage of the competition.

At first, they beat Bournemouth 3-0 on home soil, before beating the champions of England 1-0 and they will now be hoping to claim their third top tier scalp.

However, it will be a tough test for the League One promotion chasers against their London counterparts because Spurs are unbeaten at White Hart Lane this term.

Mauricio Pochettino has guided his team to wins against the likes of Manchester City, West Ham, Premier League leaders Chelsea and Everton.
