Phillips backs Celtic to sign Davies from Liverpool in 'easy deal'
Celtic will find it “easy” to do a deal with Liverpool for Ben Davies this summer, according to Kevin Phillips.
The former Sunderland and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old “could be the ideal replacement” for Kristoffer Ajer at Parkhead.
According to the Daily Mail (9th July), the Hoops are back in the hunt for Davies after their £2million move for the defender was hijacked in January.
The centre-half is still yet to make his debut for Liverpool, where he has four years remaining on his contract.
Phillips claimed a move would “suit all parties” in this window.
“It’s an easy deal to do,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He is not going to play an awful lot for Liverpool next season or even be in and around it really.
“If he had the chance to go there I’m sure it would suit all parties and for that reason, would probably be an easy one to get over the line.
“Celtic could probably cover his wages and Liverpool would probably not demand a big transfer fee as they signed him for a relatively low amount.
“He could be the ideal replacement for Ajer.”
Ajer has just one year left on his contract at Parkhead and has told the club he wants to leave this summer.
Football Insider revealed on 13th July that the Celtic board want £20million for their centre-back amid bids from Norwich, Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen.
