Pundit moots behind-the-scenes Celtic change amid surprise Ntcham U-turn
Noel Whelan has suggested some behind-the-scenes issues at Celtic may have been resolved if Olivier Ntcham is willing to stay this summer.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted “something wasn’t right” at Parkhead last summer.
As quoted by Sky Sports (July 10th), manager Ange Postecoglou revealed he had held talks with Ntcham over his future at Parkhead.
He revealed the 25-year-old had told him “he wanted to come back and make an impression this year”.
As revealed by Football Insider in April, the midfielder made it clear he wanted to quit Celtic this summer.
Following Ntcham’s loan to Marseille in January, former boss Neil Lennon told BBC Sportsound the midfielder had grown “fed up and indifferent about the Scottish game”.

As detailed by this site last August, Kristoffer Ajer was one of a number of players who were looking to leave Celtic last summer.
Whelan has suggested there must have been behind-the-scenes issues that may have been sorted.
Whelan told Football Insider: “What was it that made all these players want to leave the club after a very successful season?
“They won the cups and the Premiership. Something wasn’t right. Whether it’s at the club, whether it’s certain players, whether it’s the manager.
“There was something there that these players didn’t want to go through again.
“Now there’s been a change at the club, change of manager and some players leaving, maybe they feel a little bit happier with the circumstances.
“I still believed the players should have fought for the shirt, stayed and battled through it. Sometimes you get people you don’t like in life. You can’t pick and choose.
“For Postecoglou, it’s about getting the best out of his players. He’s looking, analysing, seeing his players. It’s man-management. To get the best out of a player doesn’t mean throwing money at him.
“It’s putting an arm around him, showing him that he’s at the right club. That he’s got the right players, the right staff around him. Giving him that support, that guidance that makes you feel comfortable and wanted.
“I think that’s where managerial status has changed now. It is about management skills and what you bring. Postecoglou is somebody that is starting afresh.
“He’s getting to know new players, new characters and everyone is different. Everyone reacts different. Some need a kick up the bum, some people need an arm round the shoulder.”
