Phillips claims Damsgaard will be a Premier League player next month after Leeds news
Kevin Phillips expects Mikkel Damsgaard to be a Premier League player next season amid reported interest from Leeds United.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has been blown away by the winger’s performances at Euro 2020.
According to Turkish news outlet Sabah (via Leeds Live July 5th), the Whites are one of a number of clubs in the race to sign the winger.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim Sampdoria will demand £25.7million for Damsgaard, who has three years remaining on his contract.
Damsgaard, 21, looked to have broken England hearts on Wednesday as he scored an excellent free kick at Wembley.
Despite Denmark’s eventual failure to reach the final of Euro 2020, Damsgaard will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the players of the tournament.

Phillips admits he can easily see the attacker lining up for a Premier League side on the first day of next season.
“I picked him out as one of their danger men before the game the other night,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“Obviously he stepped up and scored a wonderful free kick. He was a danger throughout the night.
“He looks like a very good young player and a lot of players have done that this tournament.
“Big clubs will sit up and take notice of him now. Some big clubs have already been linked with him.
“No surprise. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see him in the Premier League at the start of next season.”
Leeds have already been busy this summer and signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona.
Marcelo Bielsa will be looking to improve on last season’s impressive ninth-placed finish when the new campaign gets underway.
