Phillips delivers bold verdict on Liverpool signing 'phenomenal' Traore for cut-price fee
Kevin Phillips has claimed “any club” would take Wolves winger Adama Traore as an “impact player” amid interest from Liverpool.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Sunderland and England striker said the “big” fee and wages required to acquire the 25-year-old make a deal unlikely.
Jurgen Klopp’s side made an enquiry for the Spain international earlier this month.
Football Insider revealed on 7th July that Liverpool have told Wolves they are willing to pay £25million to sign Traore, who has two years left on his contract at Molineux.
However, Wolves value the winger at close to £50million and a potential deal is some way off at this stage.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Traore‘s potential move to Anfield, Phillips said:

“I could not see him as anything more than an impact player for Liverpool next season. That would be it for me. He could have a similar role in the squad to someone like Xherdan Shaqiri.
“Traore has blown very hot and cold of late. Two seasons ago he was phenomenal but last season he was a different player. He certainly didn’t reach those levels again.
“As an impact player, any club would take him. But are Liverpool going to sign a player for a big fee, on big wages to sit on the bench? I cannot see it happening to be honest.”
