Wolves will be worried about Adama Traore’s current contract stand-off, according to Kevin Phillips.
The former England international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, fears the 24-year-old “is having his head turned left, right and centre” and could leave Molineux in 2021.
The Athletic‘s David Ornstein revealed earlier this week that talks between the club and Traore’s representatives over a new contract have stalled.
He still has three years remaining on his current deal but with speculation surrounding his future rife, Football Insider understands Wolves are keen to improve his terms.
This site revealed in April that Liverpool were interested in signing Traore if Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah were to leave the club.
When asked by Football Insider if he expected Traore to be at Molineux come the start of the 2021/22 campaign, Phillips said: “I could see him leaving.
“I imagine Traore is having his head turned left, right and centre in the background by whoever is advising him.
“We all know agents speak to clubs and I am sure he has been fed all sorts of information. That does not help anyone, especially not Wolves.
“I never thought Wolves would let Jota go but it tells you that these players want to play at the top level.
“Traore has been linked with Barcelona and other top clubs.
“It is a worrying sign from the board’s point of view, that contract negotiations have stalled. It will be interesting to see what happens now.”
