Phillips: Kane won't tarnish Tottenham 'legend' status amid surprise Telegraph claim
Kevin Phillips claims there is no chance of Harry Kane refusing to return to Tottenham training.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to a twist in the ongoing saga involving the England captain.
According to The Telegraph (16th July), some of Kane’s England teammates think it’s plausible the striker may refuse to return to pre-season training.
It has been suggested Kane may do this to force a move away from Tottenham following Man City’s £100million bid last month.
On 29th April, this site revealed Kane has told friends he is “hell bent” on leaving Spurs this summer.
Phillips insists Kane is a top professional and will return to training even if he is still angling for a move.

“I don’t want to see that,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“I don’t think it will happen. Harry Kane is too professional for that.
“He’s Mr Tottenham and won’t do anything to tarnish his legendary status.
“I don’t think it would set a great example and if he is to leave, he deserves for it to happen the right way.
“That’s just speculation from teammates when you get asked. Everyone’s talking about it.
“He might have been talking about it with England. It could be another scenario about forcing a move.
“This is another scale, that’s major headline news if he didn’t turn up for training.”
Kane finished the Premier League season with more goals and assists than any other player.
He scored 23 goals and registered 14 assists in 35 league outings.
