Phillips tells Traore to sign for Liverpool as Klopp waits with 'open arms'
Kevin Phillips has insisted Wolves star Adama Traore could be a “really good impact player” for Liverpool.
The 2000 European Golden Shoe winner, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old could play a similar role to that of departed attacker Xherdan Shaqiri.
As reported by Catalan newspaper El Nacional on Saturday (October 9th), Liverpool have contacted Wolves regarding a January deal for the Spanish winger, with manager Jurgen Klopp waiting for Traore with “open arms”.
Football Insider first revealed during the summer window (7th July) that Anfield club had made enquiries about a potential deal for the lightning-quick midfielder.
As per WhoScored, Traore has recorded the most successful dribbles in the Premier League this season with 49, streets ahead of Allan Saint-Maximin in second (33).
Phillips claimed the winger’s attributes make him the perfect candidate to terrorise tiring defences from the Liverpool bench.

“I think it would be more of an impact sub solution – I think that’s all he would give them,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“I can’t see him starting loads and loads of games, it would almost be that Shaqiri situation where he comes off the bench.
“He would probably get more minutes than Shaqiri did.
“Does he start every week? Of course not, because he won’t dislodge Mane, Jota, Firmino, Salah.
“I think he would be a really good impact player, but his form at Wolves has been pretty poor.
“From a player’s point of view, if you get the opportunity to go to Liverpool – you take it.”
Shaqiri departed Anfield for Lyon during the summer window.
Traore has started five of Wolves’ seven Premier League games this season.
