Piers Morgan retaliates to ‘Wenger in’ claims from Tottenham pair after Arsenal win v Boro

By Dominic Toner

Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has retaliated on Twitter to claims that Arsene Wenger should stay at the club from Tottenham pair Gary Lineker and Lord Sugar.

The Gunners completed a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough on Monday night and kept alive their hopes of finishing in the top four.

Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring in the first-half with a brilliant free-kick, but Alavaro Negrado drew level with a headed goal in the 50th minute.

Mesut Ozil then went on to score the decisive goal as he struck a half volley in the penalty area.

However, a section of the club’s fans feel that their French manager should leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

Lineker, who is a former Spurs striker, plus the club’s former chairman Lord Sugar, both took to social media to show their support for the ‘Wenger in’ campaign.

Morgan is known to be a supporter of the ‘Wenger out’ campaign and wants the manager to leave at the end of the season, which meant he couldn’t resist pointing out the Spurs allegiances of Lineker and Lord Sugar on Twitter.

Arsenal’s result means that they are seven points adrift of the top four and do have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Spurs look set to finish above their north London rivals this season and are second-placed in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are competing for the league title and are just four points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

They have managed to set up an unlikely title race with the Blues after managing to close the gap and have won their last seven consecutive top flight games.

In other Arsenal news, Wenger has issued a warning to the club’s 22-year-old.
