Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer could be prepared to listen to offers for Newcastle forward target Andros Townsend, according to a report.
The Daily Mail have reported on their website that the Dutch boss is seeking further additions giving the south east London club’s poor start to the 2017-18 campaign, which has seen them suffer two defeats from their opening two league games.
This has meant that some players may to move on and it is believed that winger Townsend is a target of the Magpies and he could possibly become available.
The 26-year-old proved a success in his previous stint in the north east, which saw him spend six months at St. James’ Park in 2016 despite the club’s relegation.
He returned four goals and two assists in 13 appearances during his time at Newcastle and he would add another forward option to Rafa Benitez’ side if he did move to the Magpies.
Football Insider verdict:
Townsend has possibly shown his best form in the Premier League at Newcastle and he would be viewed as a good signing by fans if the Magpies did bring him. Like with England the right-winger has shown some glimpses of talent and if a coach can get him to show his abilities on a more consistent basis then he could be a top Premier League attacker. Therefore, the north east giants must make a move for Townsend if he does become available as he could certainly play a big part in Newcastle steering clear of the the relegation zone this season.
In other Newcastle transfer news, the Magpies are expecting to tie up signing of Brazilian flyer this week.
