Manchester United left-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is on his way to Leeds, according to a report.
The Daily Mail have claimed on their live transfer blog (Thursday, 12.06pm) that the 20-year-old is “heading” to Elland Road on a loan deal.
The Yorkshire giants will have been on the search for a left-back following the departure of youth graduate and star Charlie Taylor to Premier League side Burnley earlier in the summer.
Now, the club may have found their replacement in Borthwick-Jackson, as Thomas Christiansen prepares his squad for Sunday’s season opener against Bolton.
The young defender has previously spent just one loan spell away from Old Trafford, which came in the last campaign where he played just seven times in total for Wolves across a season-long deal.
He will now be hoping for much more playing time at Leeds and the England Under-20 international has made 14 appearances for the Manchester United first team and is still contracted until 2020.
Football Insider verdict:
Borthwick-Jackson could be the perfect replacement for Taylor if Leeds can include a clause that will allow them to make the move permanent if he impresses. Like Taylor the Manchester United man is known for bombing forward and has a tonne of pace which will wow the Elland Road crowd alongside allowing him to contribute up the pitch for the team. His age also means that he will only get better and if Borthwick-Jackson can add some strength to his game then he can become a real prospect. This could be a huge coup for the Whites and another good signing under the ownership of Italian Andrea Radrizzani.
