Manchester City are interested in signing Celtic prodigy Karamoko Dembele, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim that City want to add 13-year-old Dembele to their collection of talented youngsters at their academy.
A City source revealed to the Sun that the club have been monitoring the progress of Dembele and believe he could be the next big star.
“He has been on the radar for a number of months now. He is very talented. The club is always searching around Europe for another potential star and Dembele is one being looked at,” he said.
The report details the English club have been tracking the attacker for the past few months and are hopeful of negotiating a deal with Celtic, who they have built up a good rapport with after a string of loan switches.
John Guidetti, Dedryck Boyata and Jason Denayer have all moved to Celtic Park from City in the past, while Patrick Roberts is currently on an 18-month loan from the Premier League big hitters.
Celtic could be reluctant to negotiate a deal this time around and it is believed Dembele was introduced to the Under-20s side to speed up his progression to the first-team.
Dembele made his Celtic debut for the Under-20s at the beginning of October and caught the attention of the footballing world.
The forward made an appearance from the substitute’s bench to play in the last nine minutes of the 3-1 SPL Development League win over Hearts.
The left-footed attacker has been likened to Lionel Messi and often cuts in from the right wing onto his favoured left foot, can pick a pass and has excellent dribbling skills.
The decision to play Dembele is believed to have come about after a number of young players had been called away on international duty.
Dembele has caught the attention of the international teams, with Scotland and England entering a tug-of-war over the sensation.
His first shot to fame for his performances in a prestigious Under-15s tournament in Dublin earlier this summer, before making the headlines when representing the Celtic under-20s side.
In other Celtic transfer news, they are lining up a January move for a free-scoring midfielder.
