Mauricio Pochettino has heaped praise on Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the face of criticism from the fans.
Lloris has been slammed on social media for weeks after a string of high-profile mistakes, but Pochettino was quick to point out he thinks he’s “one of the best keepers in the world”.
Pochettino made mention of the criticism on social media but said that he’s “lucky” because he’s not focused on what people are saying on Twitter.
His remarks were posted by Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold from the pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon.
Tottenham are set to take on Brighton at the Amex on Tuesday night.
Poch on Lloris: "I am a very lucky person because I am not focused on social media and all that happens around. For me Hugo Lloris is, from the day that we arrive here, improving every season. He is one of the best keepers in the world." Full quote here. https://t.co/9ALQVxCiZM

Football Insider verdict:
Lloris has been a brilliant goalkeeper for Spurs and the criticism is unfair. All keepers make mistakes and it’s how they react that sets them apart from the rest. Pochettino is right to back Lloris and he’s worthy of keeping Michel Vorm, a fantastic keeper in his own right, out of the Spurs side. Pochettino is promising a heavily-rotated side ahead of the FA Cup semi-final with Man United at the weekend, and he may well decide to play Vorm. But this is his way of saying that fans shouldn’t read any more into it than that.
