Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Lucas Moura will undergo last minute tests on Friday to judge whether he will be fit enough to take part in the north London derby against Arsenal on Saturday.
The Brazilian winger arrived from Paris Saint Germain on January’s deadline day after an elongated transfer hunt, but has yet to feature for the club having been unfit for the dramatic draw against Liverpool as well as being ineligible to take on Newport County in midweek.
However, with fans eagerly awaiting the chance to see their new man in action, Pochettino has said that there is the possibility he could make his debut in what is set to be a fiercely fought derby at Wembley on Saturday, as fierce rivals Arsenal look to do the double over the Lilywhites.
The Argentinian boss told Ham and High: “I think he will be ready to be in contention for Saturday
“He’s doing well, training so hard.
“We need to assess him tomorrow after the last training session but I hope’s he’s doing well and we can put him in contention.”
Moura has only made six appearances this season, with the 25-year-old having been outcast after falling out of favour at PSG, and with Toby Alderweireld having played in the 2-0 win against Newport, Pochettino has no new injury concerns to deal with.
Arsenal saw off their rivals 2-0 in the encounter at the Emirates, but still find themselves four points behind Spurs in the Premier League table in sixth, with the Lilywhites just one point behind fourth placed Chelsea.
