Tottenham are set to make a move for Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure in the summer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims Pochettino was impressed after watching the player in the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Monday night.
Pochettino had been spotted at the game and it had led to fevered speculation among fans, who urged their manager to make a move for Doucoure.
It looks like they might get their wish, although the Mail claims that Pochettino will face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.
Doucoure is under contract with Watford until 2020 and the Mail claims that he is currently on £60,000 a week although Watford will try and tie him down to a more lucrative contract.
If they do look to sell they will ask for more than the club-record £20m they got for Odion Ighalo last year, despite Doucoure only costing them £8m from Rennes in 2016.
Football Insider verdict:
Doucoure might be delivering above what his stats are saying this season but he’s undoubtedly a talented player who can slot into most Premier League teams. He’s having a standout season, with seven Premier League goals in 25 appearances, compared to just one in 20 last season. He’ll be keen to capitalise on this to secure a move to a bigger club and his wages wouldn’t be a problem even for Daniel Levy.
