Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke highly of right-back Kyle Walker-Peters’ display against Newcastle on Sunday, stating he “fully deserved” his man of the match award.
The 20-year-old right-back made his first appearance for the north London club at St. James’ Park, playing the full 90 minutes of the 2-0 victory.
The youngster impressed as he helped his side achieve both the clean sheet and the victory against Rafa Benitez’ side and Sky Sports awarded him with the man of the match after his debut appearance.
Boss Pochettino was also high in praise for his display and after the game he told he was “very happy.”
“Very pleased. He fully deserved to be nominated man of the match. He was so calm,” told Pochettino, as quoted by the Mirror.

“Very happy with him and his interview, to play in the way that he played showed great maturity.
“His speech after the game with his trophy, he was so proud.
“You can see how the team is, how the team loves to stay together and I think it was a fantastic moment and I’m sure he will remember it forever.”
Walker-Peters is the latest youngster to break into the Tottenham first team under Pochettino and fans will have certainly been delighted with his opening display.
However, next week’s clash against Chelsea at Wembley will be a completely different encounter and Pochettino may opt to play Eric Dier in the right-back slot against the league champions with Victor Wanyama coming into the midfield.
But, no one would be aggrieved to see Walker-Peters back in the line-up and he will be looking to continue an impressive summer after also helping the England Under-20s lift the World Cup in South Korea alongside Josh Onomah.
In other Tottenham news, Stan Collymore humorously suggested Walker-Peters will sign for Manchester City next summer.
