Pontus Jansson posts Twitter message after Leeds win at Preston, reflects on the future

By Amir Mir

Pontus Jansson hailed Leeds supporters on Twitter after their 4-1 win at Preston North End on Boxing Day.

Centre-back Jansson reflected on the future by stating the Whites will achieve fantastic things because of the constant fantastic support of fans.

Kemar Roofe opened the scoring for the away side, turning in Jansson’s header before winger Hadi Sacko doubled his side’s advantage six minutes later.

The hosts did pull one back four minutes later, but Souleymane Doukara’s fine goal before the break ensured the Whites maintained their two-goal advantage.

Former Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford saw red after the hour mark and on-loan attacker Pablo Hernandez added a fourth just before the full-time whistle.

Jansson, who played the full match, posted this message to supporters on his personal Twitter account.

As a result of that win, Monk’s men have won their last three games as they maintain their place in the top six.

Sweden international Jansson has been a key figure behind that success this season, helping the club keep seven clean sheets in his 17 Championship games.

He has scored one goal for the Yorkshire club this season during the win at Norwich earlier on in the campaign.

Monk’s side will now travel to the Midlands to take on Aston Villa on Thursday evening.

Villa have won five games on the bounce on home soil and remain the only team not to have been beaten in the Championship.
