Pontus Jansson's girlfriend tweets about his Leeds future

By Amir Mir

Pontus Jansson’s girlfriend Asa Thornell has reassured Leeds fans that the centre-back is not going to leave the club.

The 25-year-old had previously wished everyone a happy New Year on his personal Twitter account and thanked fans for their support in 2016.

This resulted in the Elland Road faithful questioning whether he is going to leave the Championship club.

But his girlfriend posted this message to supporters reassuring them that his future remains with the Whites as posted on her personal Twitter account.

Jansson has become a popular figure in Yorkshire following his summer loan move from Italian side Torino.

The Sweden international has bagged two goals for the club in his 18 Championship games for Garry Monk’s side.

His previous goal came during the 1-1 draw against promotion rivals Aston Villa on Thursday evening where his headed effort scrabbled over the line.

The Whites will be hoping Jansson signs a permanent deal at the club and helps them gain promotion to the Premier League.

Monk’s side are currently sitting in a play-off spot heading into a Yorkshire derby against neighbours Rotherham on Monday afternoon.

The former Swansea manager has helped his team pick up 25 points from a possible 33 in recent months.

They will be hoping to add three more points against their neighbours who they beat 2-1 during their reverse fixture earlier on in the campaign.

In other Leeds news, Karren Brady believes this was a brilliant signing by the club.
