Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Ange Postecoglou will be "obsessed" with adding a top striker to his Tottenham squad this summer.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Australian will want at least three options to lead the line in the 2024-25 campaign.

Son Heung-min was the club's top scorer (17) in the 2023-24 campaign, while Richarlison also chipped in with 12 strikes.

Postecoglou has 'very exciting' Tottenham transfer plan, says Wyness

When asked if a centre-forward will be the priority for Spurs this summer, Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Without a doubt.

“It seems to me that a striker is the target he is most focused on, and quite rightly.

“You’ve got to put the ball in the net, and Ange is really building his team towards doing that as much as possible.

“More than most other clubs, Postecoglou is going to focus on a striker this summer.

“He wants a few options, rather than just one or two.

“I think he’s going to come out with a very exciting squad for next year. I wish him luck because he has taken a very refreshing attitude and approach to English football.

“The Spurs fans really enjoyed what they saw, and they’re excited at producing an attacking lineup.

“Postecoglou will be obsessing about his attacking options. He wants to build a free-scoring team.”
