Report: Premier League club revive interest in Tottenham midfielder, improved bid to be lodged

By Dominic Toner

Swansea will revive their interest in Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli by tabling an improved bid, according to a report.

Sky Sports claimed that there is firm interest from the Swans in the Belgium international amid growing doubts about his future at White Hart Lane.

The Mirror report that Swansea will now up their pursuit of Chadli after failing in a move for Sevilla forward Fernando Llorente.

It is said that Swansea have had a bid rejected for Chadli, 26, but are prepared to return with an improved offer.

The Belgium may be looking to leave Spurs this summer after he failed to make the squad for the European Championships in France.

The left-winger still has two years left on his current contract after signing for £7million in the summer of 2013.

He starred in 40 encounters for the north London club last season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists, but was on the fringes of the team for much of the campaign.

The Mirror claim Swansea are also keen to make a move for Leicester’s Leonardo Ulloa after losing out on Llorente.

“Fernando will continue at Sevilla,” said the player’s agent Chus Llorente, as quoted by the Mirror. “We have decided not to listen to other offers. Sevilla is a team of champions, and Fernando wants to succeed in it.”

The Welsh club have already offloaded several strikers this summer as Bafetimbi Gomis, Eder and Alberto Paloschi have all exited from the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans and Spurs have negotiated a number of deals in recent years, which include Gylfi Sigurdsson’s return to the Welsh club, while Kyle Naughton also left the London club permanently to move to Swansea.

In other Tottenham transfer news, they are lining up a £10million swoop for a Euro 2016 winner and the player wants a move to England.
