Pundit drops 'big' Mateo Kovacic claim after source's Man United reveal
Frank McAvennie has claimed Mateo Kovacic would be a good fit for Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker told Chelsea to get rid of 15 players before the new season.
On 14 May, sources told this site that United are weighing up a bid for the Blues midfielder with Erik ten Hag keen to add more depth and quality to his squad this summer.
The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on the 29-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge ahead of his contract expiring in 2024.
The Blues are believed to have offered the midfielder a new deal but negotiations between the two parties stalled and no future plans are on the horizon.
Ten Hag’s side are keeping an eye on the situation and are willing to sign Kovacic if Chelsea drop their asking price, with rivals Man City also eyeing up a potential deal.

When asked if the Blues would be willing to sell a player to one of their competitors, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think so.
“I do not think there will be any problems.
“You can’t have 40 people in your dressing room, they had to knock a wall down, that is not right. There is no harmony, there is no togetherness, no bonding. It is too big.
“You have got to get that down to 25. They have got to get that sorted. I could see it Kovacic going to Man United. He is a decent player I think he would do well there.“
