Darren Bent has hailed Everton recruitment chief Marcel Brands and told the club to offer him a new contract.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former Tottenham and England forward also heaped praise on Carlo Ancelotti’s ability to attract top quality players.
Director of football Brands, who also sits on the Everton board, is out of contract at the end of the season.
The Athletic report the club are “relaxed” about the situation and will likely open discussions over a new deal next year.
“He’s the orchestrator of what’s gone on,” Bent told Football Insider.
“They need to do something with that because he’s been brilliant, all you need to do is look at the signings.
“You’ve got to say fair play to Ancelotti as well because he’s helped attract a lot of these players as well.
“He’s been absolutely brilliant. I don’t think they would have been able to attract some of these players without Ancelotti.
“Arguably, he’s one of the best managers out there and you don’t attract Rodriguez and that kind of player without Ancelotti.
“He’s been absolutely superb, I’ve always been a big fan of Ancelotti’s ever since he was at Chelsea, he’s been a top manager.
“I really like what Everton have been doing especially since the Ancelotti appointment but they need to address their form at the moment.”
Last month Ancelotti heaped praise on Brands labelling his work on Merseyside as “fantastic”, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
The Dutchman oversaw the signings of Niels Nkounkou, Allan, James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey over the summer.
