Alan Hutton claims that Todd Cantwell could be one of several Championship players on the move in the domestic transfer window after Leeds United made a move for the Norwich City star.

The former Aston Villa and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, suggests that Premier League sides will now look to raid the second tier if they missed out on their top targets.

Hutton believes that the extended domestic window, in which Premier League sides can only deal with EFL clubs, will see a number of Championship stars like Cantwell secure a move before the 17 October deadline.

"He was probably one of the shining stars for Norwich last season, he was one of four of them in that squad that you'd pick out that were likely to leave," Hutton told Football Insider.

"Really good potential, he's young and he looked hungry in the Premier League, he's got all the attributes to play at a high level.

"I think with this window being open until the 16th, it gives teams room and time, however you want to look at it, they can go for their first targets, whether it be bigger signings, if you like, and they can have that on the backburner.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa hunches over

"I think that's what it seems, that a lot of teams are looking and saying if target A doesn't work out, we've also got this, we've got X amount of days, there's not as much pressure to get that done.

"It wouldn't surprise me if something happened for Cantwell and a few players coming out of the Championship to the Premier League."
