Paul Robinson "fully expects" Tottenham goalkeeper Paola Gazzaniga to leave the club in the January window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper tipped the club to enter the market to sign a new number three goalkeeper if the Argentine leaves.

Gazzaniga has not made a Tottenham matchday squad this season with the arrival of Joe Hart seeing him drop down to third-choice goalkeeper.

"I fully expect him to leave in this window," Robinson told Football Insider.

"I think he expected that he would leave in the summer. Hence the reason Joe Hart came in and has played a lot of European football and in cup games.

"Gazzaniga has been pushed to one side if you like. I think he probably had one eye on the exit door in the summer and that didn't materialise.

"I wouldn't be surprised if something happened sooner rather than later with him.

"Is it then an area that it leaves Spurs short in? It may be an area they have to look at bolstering for a number three.

"I don't expect Gazzaniga to be there come the end of January."

Tottenham goalkeeper

Gazzaniga played 25 times in all competitions for Tottenham last season with first-choice Hugo Lloris struggling with injuries.

He kept just five clean sheets and conceded 33 goals in his 25 appearances last term.
