Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham to sign Swansea City defender Joe Rodon before the domestic window shuts on 16 October.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former White Hart Lane number one claimed that the 22-year-old would be a “fantastic signing” for Spurs.

Sky Sports revealed on Monday night that the London club were in talks to sign the 4-time Wales international with a view to a permanent deal before the domestic window shuts.

Rodon made just 21 appearances in all competitions for the Swans in the 2019/20 campaign having spent a large spell of the season sidelined with an ankle injury.

The move for the centre-half comes after this site revealed deals for Antonio Rudiger and Milan Skriniar collapsed on deadline-day.

When asked by Football Insider if the Welsh defender was ready to make the step up to the Premier League with Spurs, Robinson said: “Rodon is a very promising young player.

“I think it would be a fantastic signing for Spurs. He has experience at international level as well. He has got a big future ahead of him.

“Rodon is not going to come in and play week in and week out but it would be another option for Jose Mourinho the back.

“It would be great for him to develop under a manager like Jose Mourinho and around players like Alderweireld and Sanchez.

“They do need another recognised centre-half and he fits the bill.”
