Tottenham may sign another offensive player in the January transfer window if Dele Alli leaves the club.
That is according to former White Hart Lane number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the prospect of the club signing RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer next month.
The Evening Standard claim that the 26-year-old is one of Jose Mourinho’s top targets in 2021, as he looks to add a goalscoring midfielder to his squad.
In a recent interview with Bild, Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche all but confirmed the London club’s interest in the Austrian midfielder.
Sabitzer‘s 16 appearances this season have yielded three goals and three assists.
When asked by Football Insider if Jose Mourinho needed to sign another attacking midfielder, Robinson said:
“I do not think Spurs need an offensive midfielder but if Dele Alli leaves then a space in the squad may become available. They are blessed in that area though.
“Every squad in the world can be strengthened by world-class players but Spurs will not add players for the sake of it.
“The squad Mourinho has built there is one of the best I have seen at the club in years.”
When asked about Tottenham’s interest in Sabitzer, Krosche told Bild: “He has made a great development. It goes without saying that other clubs also notice this.
“I don’t like singling out anyone individually but Marcel Sabitzer has really developed well.”
