Pundit expects Jacob Ramsey to explode after Aston Villa game-changer
Kevin Campbell has backed “brilliant” Aston Villa youngster Jacob Ramsey to explode in a new wide role after Unai Emery’s arrival.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 21-year-old’s direct running in behind defences will allow Danny Ings to “thrive” when leading the line.
Ramsey started in a left-winger role during the 2-1 win over Brighton on Sunday (13 November) – just days after lining up on the opposite side in League Cup action against Man United.
Speaking to Sky Sports (via Football Daily, 13 November) the England Under-21 international revealed he has previously played as a wide man while coming through the ranks at the Midlands giants.
Ramsey has already contributed a goal and an assist under Emery – adding to his tally of eight strikes and five assists in 80 senior outings for Aston Villa.
The academy product is under contract until June 2027 after penning a massive new deal in April.

Campbell hailed a masterstroke from Emery as he looks to maximise the midfielder’s talents in this new role.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I like Jacob Ramsey, I think he’s a brilliant young player.
“He’s so dangerous. And the fact that a midfielder is running beyond the striker, can only be a good thing for Danny Ings.
“He’s thriving right now in his position. Ramsey is taking the attention of the centre-backs, and that gives Ings the room.
“It’s really smart from Unai Emery to come in, and recognise and use the talents that Ramsey has to create a bit more space for his attackers.
“I expect him to improve in this new position because it suits him, and he’s a really good player.”
