Pundit fumes at 'unbelievable' Arsenal after source's transfer update

Kevin Phillips is predicting a busy end to the transfer window for Arsenal after they failed to sign Aaron Ramsdale.

The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest Gunners transfer news.

A recruitment source told Football Insider that Arsenal pulled the plug on their pursuit of Ramsdale after failing to agree on a transfer fee with Sheffield United.

Mikel Arteta’s side have pursued Ramsdale all summer after making him their top target to challenge Bernd Leno.

Arsenal lost their opening game of the season 2-0 to Premier League new boys Brentford.

This disappointing result triggered fresh demands for more signings from the Arsenal faithful.

Phillips insists Arsenal will be busy in the final weeks of the window after this new setback.

“It’s unbelievable that these issues are happening at Arsenal,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world and it’s pure frustration at this point.

“There have been so many knockbacks this summer with transfers.

“These shouldn’t be issues that happen at that club but it’s still happening.

“It’s going to be a very busy end to the transfer window if we want to get these players in.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t sign anyone though, typical arsenal.”

The Gunners’ major acquisition this summer was the £50million swoop for Ben White.

He had a debut to forget as he was run ragged by the relentless Brentford attack.
